Ought to do fine, assuming your Hornet is not so old as to have a .222" or .223" barrel... which hasn't been the case for many years.

Anything that measures .224" should work.
I have been loading 40gr Hornady V-Max projectiles in my 22 Hornet for quite some time. They are actually designed for a 223 Remington and the rest of the big 22 centerfires. I load them longer than magazine length, but that is because I have a TC Contender, so magazine length doesn't matter to me. I can put 5 rounds under a nickle with a load of 12.9 grains of Lil-Gun. The only down side (if you want to call it that), is that the projectiles probably won't expand as much due to a slower velocity.

The bullet companys make bullets specifically for the hornet and its slower speeds, but the regular .224 bullets will shoot fine. They, of course, may not give good exspansion. Also, as stated above, if it is an old rifle, make sure it is not a .223 groove barrel. I had one of those once, shot great, should have kept it. 
Thanks for the replies. I have a .224 CZ527 American in .22 Hornet. I like to use H110 and 4227. I have also loaded the 35 gr Vmax Hornady a short little pill http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=520110 I have not tried the new Speer 33 gr on yet http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=472742
I use them in my hornets, they expand pretty good when started out at 2700fps+, and are accurate,
expansion is not quite as explosive and trajectorys not as flat as the 45gr rem HPFB or 35gr vmax when driven at the same velocity, but its not bad and it'll still blow silver dollar sized holes in fox squirels and rabbits at 150yards.

Try those Sierra Varmiters--40 gr HP in the Hornet and some Lilgun-11 gr on up a grain or so.

I had very good luck with the Hornady 45gr "Bee" in my .22Hornet (Ruger M77/22 KBZ).
It will easily give you normal SAAMI OAL's if loaded to the cannelure.
I found best seating at 1.710"oal. If seated further out, it will impinge on the throat. I found that for my rifle this occured at 1.728", which is to the rear edge of the cannelure at the case mouth when trimmed to min. spec.
I too will second the Sierra 40gr Varminter HP. It is easily the most accurate bullet I've tried through several Hornets.
I like it at 1.780" (max to fit/feed through my magazine), over 12.5gr of Hod. LilGun for ~3,000fps. Gives 7/8" groups with neck-turned brass. I do use Federal 100 or CCI-500 pistol primers.
