Hornady .224 Bee?

The bullet is called the "Bee" as it is a blount nosed bullet suitable for use in tubular magazines ie: .218 Bee's. I believe they also used to make it in .223" as well as .224". For all c.f. rifles built after WWII, the .224" is correct.

I've used it in a Ruger 77/22Hornet as it has proper cannulure and ogive for seating close to the grooves on my Ruger. It feeds well from my magazine and is second most accurate bullet from my rifle.

I don't think you'll have a problem feeding. You will need to check and make sure you have it seated deep enough to chamber properly.

The bullet is also designed to expand at .22Hornet and .218Bee velocities. It might not respond well to velocities above 3,500fps.

It in essence is the XTP design hollow point in .224".

Very doubtful it would stay together in a fast twist .223 barrel.

As GooseGestapo said, it was designed for 2,700 - 2,800 velocity in a 1-16" twist .218 Bee barrel.

I would expect grey vapor trails on the way to the target out of a 1-9" .223 at 3,600 FPS.
