Hey guys. I'm looking at making my own bullets but the costs seem to vary quite a bit. Does anyone know the quality of using the Lee Liquid Alox setup. Here is the link.

This is a much cheaper option than using an RCBS

My question is does this lee liquid stuff work? Most production bullets like lasercast have the solid lubricant.

Here is Lee's Furnace as well

Which is much cheaper than Lymans or RCBS furnaces. Is lees quality good. Why they huge price differences?

I use "heavily" alox, with all my home cast, (classical or TL grooves) even Hardcast already lubbed get a coat.
I use-it sparingly as it need really little even with alox, resize (GC), alox process.

Don't buy Alox alone.
One bottle came with each Lee Sizer and will last for ~thousands bullets. Lee sizer are "nose first" push thru, so a .309 one will work with all kind of the same diameters.

Own and use Lee bottom pour; pot IV and Pro 4-20. Work well, drip a little (not always!). Pro 4-20 is far better (20#, more clearance,...).

In my search for a "dip/spray" type lubracant, I found Irmco lubricants #680-000 dry lube worked best for my 230grn .45 bullets. It is a water based lube that, when dry, feels much like wax. I first run the bullets through a automatic pneumatic sizer I built, then dip them in a 30% 680-000 70% water solution, and spread out to dry. It’s the fastest way I’ve found and the only leading problems were after 1000+- rounds through a Mac 10 (in an hour and a half). It’s better than most any other cast bullets I have used when shot at a normal pace. The lube is used commercially as a metal forming lube when stamping out sheet metal parts for the auto industry.

My memory of the liquid alox from Lee is that it smells to the high holy ends of the earth.
