22 Ammunition cost

Isn't Federal AutoMatch like 350 rounds per box?

325--but it's really what I'd call "bulk pack" ammo. The standard box of .22LR has 50 rounds in one of those little plastic trays. AutoMatch is the bulk version of Federal Gold Medal Target, meaning probably that it's the same ammo with less QC. The regular Gold Medal Target is up around $4.00 for a box of 50 (or about 8 cents a round) and the AutoMatch (in WalMart) is $14.40 for 325 (or about 4.5 cents a round).

EDIT TO ADD: And Federal 510 in WM is still $1.28 a box: 2.5 cents a round!

Shung, it wasn't that long ago that a brick of .22 was around $8.
At WalMart, a 100 round box of 9mm Winchester is around $19.
A 100 round box of the same in .45 is about $30 although I did luck up the other day and stopped by a WalMart that for some reason had .45 Blazer Brass for $10.45 for a box of 50. Most WalMarts have it for $14.68. I should've bought more than 3 boxes but I bought around 10 boxes several months ago for $9.68 before they went up.

I believe you are right..

But I also think that some importers are getting fat on our skins !!!

In most of Europe, the market for firearms goods is smaller due to oppressive gun laws and trade barriers.

It's a more expensive sport in much of Europe, I surmise from many of the Euro shooters I have met. Granted, Switzerland is an obvious exception, but shooting in Europe takes a much larger financial commitment than in the states.

Ok.. so for 9mm and .45ACP we pay at least twice the price.

Buying them by 1000 make it less than twice, but not far.

Now there is one hope. Win a couple of millions in the lottery and come to live in the USA ! ;)

Other than raw materials, and the diesel fuel to get the ammo from the factory to the store (which has also gone up quite a bit), what makes up the majority cost of ammunition?
The labor for manufacturing employees, building rent, telephone expense, depreciation, advertising, marketing, accounting, human resources, IT support, the plant manager, transportation costs including the truck fuel and the driver's salary, interest expense, office supplies, repairs and maintenance of facility and equipment, disposal of waste, legal & professional fees... just to name a few.

Don't forget markup (profit) on the manufacturer's end and on the retailer's end.
Don't forget all the hidden taxes also.:what:

Yeah it kinda sucks. The price seems to be the same everywhere. I think Remington just wants to make their prices higher for the hell of it. People keep buying, so it must not be that big of a deal to some.

and btw, taxes suck period!
