anyone shoot .22 bullseye a guy was talking about .22 bullseye scratch shooting ?
anyone heard of this its a pistol competition .22 ?
if so any input on a starter like a buckmark .22 or a 1911 .22 ?

I personally shoot Bullseye with a High Standard Trophy, 1970 vintage. Most of the best shooters use High Standard or S&W 41 pistols. The next tier of shooters are using The various Ruger Mks and Buckmarks. IMHO, the 1911 22's are not accurate enough for serious Bullseye competition. I have seen very good reviews of the Nelson 1911 conversion units but have not shot one myself, yet.
Whatever 22 you choose needs to be capable of holding the ten ring at 50 yards from a machine rest. That takes a lot of shooting with various brands of ammo to find the magic combo.

A lot of Bullseye shooters set up indoor 22 events during the colder months. Usually at 50 feet or 25 yards. Lots of fun. People shoot anything 22, and usually are trying to attract new shooters. Ruger Mark's and Browning Buckmarks up to Feinwerkbaus, Hammerlis and Pardinis. CCI Standard Velocity tends to be a good Bullseye round, but some use Aguilla, SK, Eley or RWS brand ammunition. The big concerns are reliability then accuracy.

When it is warmer some folks show up and shoot 22 only for either the 22 part of a Bullseye competition, or for all three events (22, Centerfire and 45) with NRA scores for 22 only. They do this usually to master the 22 before competing with the other pistols.

My club runs indoor (50 ft) bullseye matches year round.
Started with a Buckmark, but soon found a High Standard like I used back in my Army days.
This one is at its best with, believe it or don't, Norma Tac-22.
As the H-S is a switch barrel, I also have a LSP barrel with a red dot on it.

.22 Bullseye

Indoor matches using the B-2 and B-3 targets are quite common. They may be entire match courses of 90 shots or "gallery" matches shooting the National Match section of the longer match (30 shots at 50 ft.)
Most of the best shooters use High Standard or S&W 41 pistols
Most of the top shooters that I see are shooting FWB AW93s or Hammerli 208s, Walther SSP/GSP, Pardini SPs or the Smith 41. Some use the Marvel .22 conversion for their 1911s. A few still use the High Standard (I do) but they are ever more rare on the firing line.

I should have said the shooters I shoot with use ... Not many Hammerlis or Pardinis in my area.
I am looking into a Marvel or Nelson conversion to use instead of my High Standard. No problems with it but have been using it almost 40 years.

"Using it for almost 40 years."
Great pistols aren't they? My Victor turned 40 this year.

I HAVE OWNED AND SHOT THE FOLLOWING 22'S FOR BULLSEYE COMPETITION.
HAMMERLI 280 & 208
PARDINI SP NYGORD SPECIAL
HIGH STANDARD VICTOR
I NOW USE 2 MARVEL 22 CONVERSIONS ON ROCK RIVER ARMS 1911 FRAMES. 1 - 5" FOR INDOOR AND A 6" FOR OUTDOOR. MY INDOOR AND OUTDOOR ZERO'S ARE VERY DIFFERENT.
MY 6" MARVEL CONVERSION HAS A TEST TARGET OF .300" AT 50YDS WITH LAPUA SIGNUM. FROM MY RANSOM REST IT SHOOTS UNDER A HALF AND INCH AT 50YDS WITH SEVERAL TYPES OF AMMO. THE 5" IS HALF AN INCH TO 5/8'S AN INCH WITH THE SAME AMMO.

YES 22 CONVERSIONS ARE ACCURATE ENOUGH. IF YOU BUY A MARVEL PRECISION .

NO I DON'T WORK FOR THEM BUT I AM VERY HAPPY WITH THE PRODUCT THEY DELIVER. JIM P

^^^ that sounds like what they were talking about what would be
a good starter pistol under say $350

Get a buck mark or a Ruger MK3. Both are cheap and accurate enough with SV ammo to get you well past starting.

I will say this, an OPTIC helps a lot. I would get an ultra dot to put on your choice of pistol.

This is my 22 pistol, Pardini SP.
