Again, to quote member Bubbles:

The application fee for a Type 07 FFL (firearm manufacturer) is $150. The license is valid for three years.
The SOT is $500.00 per year if your total gross receipts are less than $500,000.00 per year, otherwise the tax is $1000.00 per year.
ITAR registration is $2250.00 per year.
Throw in liability insurance, machines and tooling, raw materials, office equipment, computers and software, and other normal costs of doing business (utilities, rent, legal fees, etc) and it gets spendy real fast.

This is the third place in the last few hours you've posted how easy an SOT2 is to get for playing around. Probably best to cover everything involved before touting that route as the easy way to NFA bliss.

and as a Title II manufacture , don't forget you will need a FFL, either Type 7 or 10 , correct ?

Also once you don't renew that Title II , you also have to relinquish all converted full auto's , correct ?

Also lets not forget all the skills and machinery one would need to be able to recoup ones investment. Dealer Samples sell at prices far below what fully transferables do.

And don't forget the standard other stuff that will be needed such as business license , insurance and safe storage of items.

It is an option , but by no means a cheap $1000 option.

plus look at it this way , a POST DEALER SAMPLE MP5 is well under $2K , what semi are you going to buy and convert to full auto , sell as a dealer sample and still make $3000 ?

i have a full-auto AR15 lower, and a dedicated 22lr upper on it, with ceiner kit and a 7" barrel. i run the 30 rnd blackdog mags, which work great if you don't put more than about 25 rnds in them.

keep it lubed and it runs pretty well. of course, 22lr ammo isn't perfect so you can still expect a few FTFs

however, it's tremendous fun, suppressed or otherwise. I've done everything from mag dumps to shooting trap (clay pigeons) with it. it is of course, a favorite of new shooters, especially kids.

right now, you can get a registered lower for $9k or so, which is a much better investment than anything else below that price.

It sounds like even for .22, you can't get anything in the $1,000 and under range :/

I'd build and register something if I had a shop and the tools, but lacking those *shrug*

You can put the Razorback on an AR15 lower for about $700 and use the belt in semi.

And no you can't get ANY fully automatic of any stripe for $1000 anywhere as far as I have ever found. Start about $3000 for a transferable weapon.

A couple of years ago I got to shoot an UZI with a .22 conversion both with and without a suppressor.
It was a pretty good hoot but I'm sure I won't be having anything like that for a while.

I saw a browning .30 cal belt fed machine gun for sale at the gibralter trade show in michigan for $350.00 all nfa rules apply. I can see this weapon not being the most practical fa for fun use. Back to topic, if the registry were still open or to reopen, I would seriously consider getting a stamp to convert or build a .22 to select fire or full auto.
