Use Scratch X (automotive polish that you can get at auto parts stores or even at Walmart) then Howards Feed-n-Wax for a really nice shine.

The 10/22 was out of the range that I wanted to spend. I only wanted to spend $150. If I would have spent more than that I would have gotten a lever gun. (I talked myself into and out of one about a dozen times)

Thanks for the tip furnclip. No offense DukeNukem but I work with automotive wax all day everyday, I am not going to put any kind of auto wax on anything other than what it was designed for.

It wasn't so much that he said no on the price but his attitude that he had when he said it. You disrespect me like that no way I am going to buy anything.

I went there a couple weeks back to get some work done on one of my shotguns and the guy at the counter came over to see what I needed, then he just walked away to try to make a sale on a rifle. About 10 mins later this other guy from the archery department wandered by and noticed me standing there. Took him two mins to write up the work order. As I was walking out I saw the guy who was there looking at the rifle walking out with no gun. Every time I go in there I leave cursing at the employees in the firearm department.

You do know the wood stock is not walnut, correct? Even if it is stained like walnut it is a hardwood. I would use Howards Feed-n-Wax which is sold at Home Depot stores. If you don't like the look, you can always strip it off.

I think you made a good choice on the 22 rifle. I just hope it meets your expectations in terms of functionality and accuracy.

Scratch X isn't wax. It's a micro-abrasive polish. Scratch X + Feed-n-Wax was recommended by people on the CZ forum at Rimfire Central, and I've used that combination on my three CZ's. It's taken them from a dull finish to a high gloss.

It's so accepted at that forum that I'd even go as far as to say it's standard procedure. I'll see if I can find a link to before and after photos.

Duke, that rifle didn't look that bad in the first picture, I was under the impression that it was for really worn out finishes. Someone recommended me Howard's Restor-A-Finish for this...

Yeah, that rifle wasn't bad to begin with. There's nothing wrong with a satin/matte finish. A lot of people even prefer it to a glossy finish. But if you do want high gloss without a lot of work, Scratch X will produce it. In addition to the shine, the grain on my CZ's is much more apparent after the treatment.
The Marlin stock in these photos really shows a big difference pre and post Scratch X, too. http://www.henryfirearms.org/henrybb/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=60

Feed-n-Wax is the only Howards product I've used, but based on that experience, I'd be fairly confident their other products are quality stuff.
