I would like some scope recommendations for a .22 PRS scope in the sub $100.00 price range. I have a Heavy Barreled 10/22 on a Boyds stock and a BSA Sweet 22 scope. I have not shot a match yet but want to start and outfit a Marlin bolt gun too. My current scope is zeroed at 100 yards and I manage the rise under 100yds by using the thick bar above the center cross but want to go to a MilDot scope with adjustable objective. Basically I am looking for the "best bang for the buck" in a scope that can take me to 225yds without breaking my budget. So far I have been leaning towards a Barska 3-12x40 AO Air Gun Riflescope w/Mil-Dot, AC10008. Also interested a CenterPoint 3-12x44mm Rifle Scope 30mm Precision Lock Turrets. does anyone know how the optical quality compares between the 2?? Might also consider a Centerpoint Spectrum 3-9x40 FFP scope as they can sometimes be found in my price range but lack adjustable AO. Do FFP scopes have the same paralax issues as SFP scopes??
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

I think you are going to be hard pressed to get a good scope with all those features in your price range of $100. If your willing bump that up to $250-$300 that you might have a chance. I was in a similar position and just put a new scope on my 10/22 for PRS. My local club has a pretty active NRL22 group and this coming weekend will be my first match with my new scope.

I put an Athlon Talos BTR 4-14×44. It's a first focal plane scope, MRAD adjustments and for the price a pretty good MRAD "Christmas Tree" reticle. More than enough for NRL22 matches and with my 50 yards zero and the ammunition I am using I could just get to ~225 yards by holding elevation on the reticle without dialing. Combining dialing the elevation and holding I could probably get close to 350 yards before I ran out of adjustment. A 20MOA mount would let you go further if you wanted. The matches I am currently shooting are limited to ~200 yards.

Above was my thread when I asked the forum for similar help finding a scope. There were lots of good suggestions that might be of interest to the OP. Near the end of the thread I also go into more details of my testing my Althon Talos.

Incredible (but predictable) disappointment pending in 3... 2... 1...
Who is going to be disappointed? OP and a $100 scope or myself with my Athlon? If you mean the first I fear your right, if the second then maybe but so far it's been really good for what I paid for it. This weekend will be the real test when I beat on it a bit shooting the October NRL22 match.

My knowledge of scopes is limited enough that my suggestion may or may not meet your requirements. That said, I put one of these on my Ruger American Rimfire Target, and I'm pretty happy with it so far: Athlon Neos 3-9x40 BDC 22. I'm not sure if I like it as well as the Nikon scopes I bought a while back, but those have been discontinued.

ETA: It's a little over your $100 budget at $109.

I'm a big fan of budget scopes. I've never spend over $200 on one myself and I've been pretty happy so far. That being said, i think if you want something you can really trust you'll want to up your budget at least a little bit. The scopes you mentioned may work fine, but the companies don't have a track record I would trust much in a competition.

The Athlon Talos 4-16x40 at around $160 would be a solid choice with all of your desired features.

lack adjustable AO.

Parallax in the short range, smallest targets will be critical for your NRL22/PRS Rimfire rifle. SFP or FFP, you need to be able to control the focal point to ensure your reticle is coplanar with your target. Side focus is better than AO, and I would NOT willingly choose a fixed parallax optic of any kind.

My experience with anything Barska has been underwhelming. BSA is a little better but not by much. I have had a little success with some Nikons and Bushnells in the 200-250 range.

I have never owned a Barska anything but know a couple of shooters that had their scopes. They now have something else because they failed. The LGS carried them for many years but he no longer does. I haven't asked him why but maybe it was a quality thing.

I have owned two Barska scopes. Neither were anywhere near sufficient quality that I would want to use for an NRL22 or PRS rimfire rifle.

I also would not want an AO for positional shooting. I’m sure I could adapt to it, but I would not want to risk rolling my AO while trying to support the rifle and inadvertently change my parallax focus.

If I was going to go with a scope that is $150 or less, I would go with the Primary Arms Classic 4-16x44 SFP mild-dot. I have had good luck with Primary Arms scopes. No they are not top of the line but they are good for the price. And I would trust a Primary Arms scope over a Barska or BSA scope any day.

That's a solid scope, I have one on my Savage 11. Previously spent time on 2 of my other rifles and I've been very happy with it.

While I do not have that exact scope, I do have the Primary Arms 4-14X44 FFP MIL-DOT version on several of my rifles. I have been very happy with them.

It is out of stock right now. It is a decent FFP MIL-DOT scope for the money. Mine are on an AR with 223 Wylde barrel and a Savage Mk II 22lr. This is above the OP's budget at $229 but I can recommend it for a decent low priced FFP MILD-DOT scope.
