Getting down to my last 1/2 box of CCI 22 CBs
Also had ones in the past called "Super Kolibri's" which were very quiet, but not as effective as the CCIs on taking Squirrels.

I went up to regular 22 shorts, but they are pretty noisy....

Long story short, I hunt early in the morning for Squirrels, and one time, a couple years ago,, my neighbor politely commented on how they woke up to the sound of a "crack" of me squirrel hunting. They didn't even say it bothered them at all....but that's all it took for me to want to make a change for the sake of my neighbor, so I did...and it also has had other benefits as well.....
As most squirrel hunters know, squirrels are EXTREMELY intuitive. After one or 2 shots with a 22 long rifle on a crisp, quiet morning, all squirrels within say the 1/4 mile x 1/4 mile Grove of Oaks hears it.....and goes bye-bye.
When I switched to the 22 CBs, I'm able to have a successful hunt on the other side of the woods, because the Squirrels never heard the first shot.

Now that I'm running low, where can these be obtained? Other CB cap makers besides CCI?

Keep on eye out on the cci website for them to come in stock. Now they are not as quiet as a cb but the aguila subsonic hollowpoints are very accurate and quiet from my 10/22. The hollowpoints have good expansion and are In stock at midway

Good luck on your search, I’m a bit nuts about squirrel hunting myself.

edit: forgot about this but last year I shot 3 raccoons out of a tree about 30yds from my bedroom window and my wife thought I was outside snapping branches. Didn’t know I was shooting a rifle

Shooting a subsonic round out of a long barrel like the ones my 52C and 513T have makes for a very quiet round. I always get asked what I am shooting at the range. Could be because I'm at the 200 yard range and the rifle makes very little sound, no crack whatsoever.

I find these to work better than the CCI, “CB” short or long rounds, at least on armadillos destroying my yard.

They will make less noise than the CCI segmented, subsonic, hollow point or the much cheaper and will still kill a squirrel “standard velocity”, generally also subsonic, solids.

However, CCI has both of them in stock and you can order direct and not even move from where you are at right now.

There is a limit on the standard velocity right now but your not likely to take out 500 squirrels this season.

I have some of the CCI Quiet and they are aptly named. I got them by accident, employee grabbed boxes thinking they were Standard Velocity and I didn't double check. I don't plan on using them ever, if you were in my neck of the woods I might see about swapping if you'd be interested.

If this is a common enough routine for you, I'd recommend looking into a silencer (if your state allows it). Any standard velocity (1070 fps) .22lr is subsonic up to about 10,000 ft elevation and can be very effectively muffled. Silencer Shop makes all the paperwork and fingerprinting requirements extremely easy and hassle-free to submit, all done via electronic kiosk at an FFL near you. Just have to wait around for 6-8 months for the tax stamp to arrive.

Great idea, but not interested in modifying my circa 1935 Remington Scoremaster. I'd need a whole new gun for the silencer... I do have a few other guns I'd definitely like to go the silencer route.

A couple boxes of .22 are cheap enough but if you are a “new toy” kind of guy the moderated PCP air rifles are quite a bit more impressive than the stuff that was around when we were kids and quite quiet.

And they are also pretty accurate. The down range impact make more noise than the rifle does.

I have a cheap Savage bolt rifle that pretty routinely shoots the CCI Quiets into the same hole at 25 yards, and opens up to about 3/4" at 50(without a lot of drop) Not match accuracy, but plenty good enough for thinning out starlings that like to crap in the swimming pool. If I shoot from inside the shed, the rest of them don't even fly away.
You may find a use for them...

CCI Quiet 40 gr loading is what I like to shoot on our property out of rifle length barrels. Much better performance than a CB without any real noise increase.
I agree. These are very good. Similar performance to standard velocity with a definite decrease in noise. Struggle to find them.

I have an air rifle that I use if I ever need to shoot anything on our property since we're in town, so that is kind of covered. Actually had to use it to put down an injured/sick rabbit this summer. My Savage Mark II loves CCI SV, so I'd rather not mess with the zero of the scope as I have it dead on for those. For obvious reasons, my 22 pistols can't cycle them so they aren't worth much for that. I'm sure they're plenty useful for certain contexts, I just don't have something to use them for I don't already have covered.

22 CB Shorts, 22 CB Longs, 22 Quiet all run in my Henry H001. I have some 22 Quiet Semiauto that runs in my Victory pistol but I haven’t tried it in the Henry yet. The Victory is somewhat finicky reliability wise with standard velocity loads. Regular 22 Short target loads work too but make marginally more noise.

I recommend a suppressor, the rifle modification is to have a barrel threaded. It's not a major modification and to be honest a remington score master is not a "valuable" or "collectible " rifle so why have hesitation in having that gun fixed up for your requirements.

Makes sense. My air rifle is older and louder than my MKII with quiets, so it's kinda useless in that regard. Shorts and CB's don't shoot worth 2 cents in anything I own, so the quiets work best for me...and POI isn't much different at 25 yards from the CCI SV's. I live inside "village limits" and rules against firearms usage are enforced under noise ordinances for some weird reason.

I use CCI Quiets because I was fortunate enough to stock up with a lifetime supply when pricing and availability were much more humane - they are consistent squirrel killers and fairly quiet in that they do not sound like a rifle shot - as with others here, my suggestion also if you can find them.

Second this. I've had quite a few suppressed .22:s over the better part of last four decades. While the whole-barrel suppressor on the 10/22 is impressive on its own right, the bolt action Brno Mod1 with a 22" barrel and a can is QUIET. By far the loudest noise is the click of the firing pin on the cartridge. Unless you count the *splat* of the varmint, of course.

The 10/22 also has gas bleed holes on the barrel, venting inside the rear of the suppressor enclosure. This reduces the barrel/muzzle gas pressure even further and brings the velocity of bulk standard speed .22 ammo down to subsonic so it's incredibly cheap to let 'er rip with a bunch of 30rd mags or a drum or two, all day long. Too bad the twist rate is just too slow to stabilize Aguila SSS, which is my favorite for dispatching small to medium critters. Lapua Scoremax has been a great if a bit spendy alternative, very accurate too.
