.22 rifle choices

I have to say, right now I'm leaning in the direction of less money - Savage or Ruger vs the more expensive CZ. I know, "you can always just save longer to get more to spend" and "buy once cry once" are excellent rules to live by and I often do, but I also have to contend with "can I justify that expense for this item when I also have blah blah blah I must spend money on" type questions. It is what it is, and I'm still considering.

I have more rimfire rifles than I need. As for bolt actions, I have 2 Savage Mk IIs and a Ruger American. There is no comparison between the brands. The Savages are VERY picky about magazines. The Savage magazines are expensive priced, and cheaply made. On a good day, the Savages jam on 1 in 30 rounds. On a bad day, 10 in 30. The more expensive models may do better, but I don't want to throw good money after bad. I have tried a couple mag modifications recommended on Rimfire Central, but they still are not great. The Ruger has not jammed. Ever.

The Ruger has Tech Sights on it, it is my "03A3 Light." I can hit a 3.5" steel at 100 yards about 9/10 times with irons...and I can barely see the target. I was debating getting another to scope for shooting small things at 100 yards, but I think I am going to spend the money and "buy once, cry once" and get a Tikka T1x.

I had a savage mkii in 17hmr and it shot extremely well for me. As @maxxhavoc says, the magazines and feeding were problematic for mine as well.

If you're looking at more inexpensive rifles, and new, the Marlin xt 22 is pretty decent.

There's a lot of great used .22 rifles out there.

Though they've been discontinued, if you can find one, I've been very happy with a Remington Model 504, bolt-action, box-fed rifle. I've found mine to be well-made and accurate and I fitted it with an affordable Nikon 4x, "Prostaff" scope, having a 50 yard parallax setting (ideal for most .22rf applications). Sadly, I've heard that Nikon is getting out of the scope business.
