22 TCM Interest

Are there any options for firearms other than the RIA pistol and rifle? The pistol seems decent and the bolt action seems like it would be a decent varmint rifle.

The real advantage of the TCM over the 5.7 is compatibility with more conventional pistols.

I might pick one up eventually, but I view both as niche cartridges with little practical application compared to conventional pistol rounds, so more niche firearms from which to fire them is of no consequence to me.

Played with one for a while. Lots of fun, and being easily convertible to 9mm is a nice advantage. .....HUGE fireball from a 5" tube. I refuse to own a 5.7 till i can buy factory ammo because reloading that tiny case would have me throwing the whole tray against the wall and smashing the gun to bits in short order.
The .22TCM was annoying, but never really frustrated me, even putting the little bullets in wasnt bad.

I have a TCM barrel recoil spring and magazine that I found in my dad's stuff. I am playing with the idea of using them to build a 1911 9mm/22TCM.

With basically a single source for brass and another single source for guns, I’ve decided to pass for now. It’s still some thing I’ll keep in mind though.

TCM has a huge advantage in drop-in barrel availability. Truthfully I don’t know why it hasn’t caught on better. Personally I don’t have a use for it so I haven’t jumped, but I really like the idea.

Below, is a screen shot taken from a two-weeks old, 22 TCM FB thread. Armscor CEO, Martin Tuason is the T in TCM.

Tuason fully intends to register the 22 TCM with SAAMI & once this transpires, I can’t help but to believe that the round will take on a life all its own, as additional firearm manufacturers take note of the SAAMI-sanctioned 22 TCM.

I sort of see this round like the 300 BO and 7.62x39 issue. One is for people who like to reload and have a few guns that have never seen factory ammo. The other is for people who want a cheap to shoot, effective, and relatively low cost option right out of the box.

I've seen videos on the 22 TCM that say brass can be made from 223/5.56 cases, so that makes for pretty easy reloading even if factory cases aren't available. Easy is relative in this instance. I've also seen some information that the 22 TCM case is slightly different from a cut down/die formed 223 case in some subtle ways to make it more compatible with a pistol that can also fire 9mm rounds. Both can be true at the same time.
