22 TCM sizing/decapping

Any reason why one couldn't use a carbide 9mm sizing/decapping die to resize 22TCM? Both shoot from the same chamber. It wouldn't size the neck, but does it need to? I'd be reloading only cases that came out of my own gun. Do I need to resize at all? Or can I just use a universal deprimer and carry on with the rest without resizing? Can I skip the lubing and invariably getting every 12th case stuck in the sizing die?

Unfortunately you will need a 22 tcm resizing die. Not withstanding all of the other case dimensions the neck tension is the most important part of resizing especially in a bottlenecked cartridge. Beyond that a cartridge being fed into an autoloading pistol meat be fully resized to feed properly. Just to prove my point take a 22 bullet and place it in the neck of a fired case. You'll notice it has barely any neck tension if any at all. I know 22 tcm dies aren't all that common but it's the only way you will be able to reload this catridge.

The 22tcm can be a tough little bugger to reload. I had to crank the resizing die down more than I expected to get the shoulder setback necessary to allow the round to seat in the chamber. Fortunately the Hornady sizing die has a sleeve that makes seating line up pretty easily.

The brass requires trimming as well. Be careful with it.
