Bought some primed LC .308win cases from pulled downs. Trying to just use Lyman deluxe carbide button neck size die on the necks, and first two cases resulted in smashed down necks. Went nice and slow, even imperial lubed carbide button, and inside of brass necks. I wanted to avoid full length resizing without the decap pin in because the lengths are already good to go. What might I be doing wrong?? Should I even be trying to resize the necks since .308 bullets were pulled from these cases?

At a minimum you want to resize the necks. F L resizing would be okay also. You are lubing the inside of the necks and the expander doesn't go through the neck?

yeah, I put imperial lube on carbide button which is the expander ball, as well as the inside of the case neck. ?????????????
maybe I'm doing something real stupid that I'm just not picking up???
I'm stumpped as of now ???

Shouldn't be at the bench after a long day!!!
Found my mistake. I didn't have the rod which holds the sizing button adjusted correctly. Just made my adjustment, and whalla--nice sized case necks
