ok ive been wanting a 22 revolver for some time now and a 2" stainless taurus 94 is exactly what i need... if you have one or shot one tell me how accurate etc and if i should move on and look for something better

IMO get the tracker instead. I have seen on here quite a few 94 owner with complaints. Myself and 2 friends have the tracker model, no complaints. Lots of fun for the money. Accurate enough that we got bored with the targets and started shooting the staples used to hold up the targets. Not to mention the squirrels dont like it much.

hey there rem1187a

got some questions for you if you dont mind, did you have to do anything to the tracker .22 to get it accurate? i have one and where it pretty fun to blast away and to fondle, its not accurate, even with a 4 X scope. i'm close to selling it or trading it.

what kind of groups are you getting with it, what ammo are you using, and what do you consider accurate for a wheel gun?

i have a ruger single six that shoots much better than the taurus.

on the flip side, my wife has a taurus 94 4" thats impressively accurate.

thanks -Eric

I've had my blue 4" 94 for ever...I would say that its accuracy is very good, but mine has had some issues....sights adjust by themselves so I'm contantly tinkering w/ them and the trigger on my sample is heavy & gritty. I paid less than $200 many many many years ago and I guess after all the rounds I've shot through it & how much I've learned using it, it has been okay :D

Yep, 10-ring does have one of the better ones (lucky!!!), among other THR members.

I wasn't so fortunate, I had lots of cylinder binding issues, despite ejecting the empties straight down like a good boy should  . I even stopped to clean the gun every 50 rounds. The DA pull was a trainwreck, to put it mildly :D . These seem to be the most common problems experienced by 94 owners. I'd also add that the rear sight adjusment screws didn't actually do anyting . Accuracy was pretty good when shooting SA, as the gun was almost unuseable in DA.

rem makes a good point about the Taurus Tracker. I think it is the model 970. There seems to be a lot more happy 970 owners than 94 owners. Plus, the 970 only costs about $45 more in my area.

I ended up selling my Taurus 94, I now have a S&W K-22 that is an absolute dream. Take a look at the 970 in addition to the 94. And don't rule out other DA 22s, such as the Ruger SP101 (used only), Colt Diamondback (also used, and getty pricey), S&W 617 (new & used), and the aforementioned K-22/M17/M18 (used only).

Rossi also makes some DA 22s that may be worth a look. I know MCGunner has one that has been very good to him.

response to borrowedtime

Actually didnt do much for accuracy. It did quite well out of the box. A few fine adjustments on the rear sight and that was it. Never actually tried to see what kind of groups it made. Shooting one handed at about 20 yards they stayed in a 4 inch area. When we started shooting the staples we did rest them and if memory is correct it seems most were in 2 inch area. With some patience it could have been smaller but as always it turned to competition quickly. Used a few different rounds. Most consistent seemed to be CCI mini mags. This may or may not be the accuracy your looking for but it does fine for me. Not often I miss squirrels with it. Better than 50 % head shots. I hope this answered your questions

briansp82593 ,

I too have been looking at the 2" stainless taurus 94. I think its going to be my next gun purchase. With the price of ammo getting up there this will make for a fun little plinker as well as a BUG or a hiking/walking/whatever gun.
