If you can somehow legally avoid - via the seller's state, or your state, or the combi - paying retail tax, it certainly is a bonus.

I recently paid a very low Base price for a large case of 7.62x39 in a southern state, and -- in addition --saw Nothing listed about retail tax.
The deal was "peachy". ;) Ride a golf cart to school ....?

I use the EE forum on arfcom. Ammoseek thinks the best deal on 77g 223 is 90c for crappy pmc xtac but I bought actual mk262 from someone on the EE last week for 75c ftf

LGS's here are swimming in .223/5.56 ammo of various grain weights and many brands and price points. No sense ordering and paying shipping, which if you haven't noticed has gone through the roof. One example: the "crappy xtac" mentioned above 20 rd box for $12.

Where is everybody finding the best online deals for their AR-15 ammo?

Even though I am stacked deep with 223/5.56, I rarely shoot it anymore. I am on the prowl for 64 gr Winchester hunting rounds though.

I have been having fun with other AR-15 ammo lately. Such as, 224 Valkyrie, 350 Legend, 450 Bushmaster, and 358 Socom. I highly recommend getting into other AR cartridges. 224 Valkyrie is especially available around me.

As has been said, the LGSs around here have plenty of 223/5.56. Bass Pro has been well in stock for months. I don’t know what the prices on it are though because I never look closely at it.

I start with ammoseek.com.

I used them a lot in 2013 and 2014, and was able to find what I needed for good prices for the day. Haven't needed it since then, though.

Of the sources ammoseek pointed me to, that was the one I most-frequently used.

Last time I stopped in at the LGS they were selling .223 Tula for 12.99 for a box.

+1. Over the years, I got some good deals, especially 22LR. I also used SGAmmo to get good price on factory ammo, especially premium JHP.

How about around 50 cents a round?

Not with their .223, but I've shot some of their 9mm. Probably less than 1K rounds, but never had a problem with it. Probably not my first choice in ammo, but it was cheap and went bang.
