anyone load any 60 grain vmax? just picked up a box. will be going thru a 20" 1:8 RRA AR-15. any suggestions or a starting point, ill be using varget for my powder. thanks -chris

YES! In my 1-9 bushy, they shoot very well. They should do as well in a 1-8. The 60 grain Hornady HP may do a little better in mine, but it's splitting hairs to tell the difference.

I've shot the 50gr VMAX in my 1:9 20" AR. These are extremely accurate bullets. I used 25gr-26gr of H335. Best 5 shoot group was 0.29" at 50yrds open sights. These are very nice projectiles.

My AR, when I had it, liked a minimum of 26.5 Grs. of Varget with a Fed primer and the 60 Gr. V-Max.

Isn't the 60 grain V-Max the bullet that Hornady uses in its TAP ammo? If so, it ought to be damned accurate with the right load. Anybody know?

It shoots really well in my .222 Mag for sure. I use H335 behind it. :)

Oh yea, I have to push it hard in my .222 mag. 1/14 twist.

cool thanks for the info guys, ill give it a try. my 1:8 should like it. it loves the 69gr SMK.

i bought 200 box of 65 gr gameking too. but my 5th add sierria book has no data. i emailed them twice and got 2 different answers. i got use the 60gr data and the other one said use the 69gr data. -chris

My 6th Edition Hornady manual lists:

21.7 - 24.9 with Varget
