I Fire a lot of SMK 77gr. H.P.B.T.. Got some Nosler 80gr. Custom Competitions #25116. Checked their site OAL listed at 2.360 by Nosler. Will this fit a 5.56 chamber at his OAL. I know I will have single feed them into an AR. Any load info. The "slowest" powder I have seen listed on their site is "Varget" at 21.5-23.5. I have CFE223, Accurate 2520, and LEVERevolution. Slower powders that might be more appropriate for this heavy for caliber bullet. Any info would be great.

Hodgdon has 80 Gr Sierra data. They're showing Varget getting more velocity than CFE223.
But their Varget load is substantially higher than Nosler's.

Need to check to see. Every chamber is 1 of a kind. The 556 has longer leads but I don't know if it's enough for that extra length. So the only way to know is load a dummy round and find out. If not keep seating deeper till it does, then make a load adj for the smaller case capacity.

You won't know until you load a dummy round are recommended as Blue suggested. You might also turn your AR15 into a single shot as it may not fit in the magazine. Remember to make load adjustments as recommended by Blue because seating the bullet deeper will increase pressures in the cartridges which is not good for you or the rifle.

The 80 Nosler absolutely cannot be loaded to mag length safely. Looks like you know this, but I'm writing for everybody else. It also needs a 1:8 or faster rate of twist. Same disclaimer.

This used to be my 600 yard HP bullet in a 1:8 RRA NM AR. Don't know if I got a bad lot, or if something changed with my barrel, but I started getting a random "bad" bullet that would be WAY off call, sometimes an outright miss. I was running them over 24 grains R15, and they were good when they were good. I switched to the 75 Hornady ELDM and never looked back.

I'd think Varget, AA2495 or 4064 would be strong contenders with this bullet (all presently available). Your CFE 223 or AA2520 might work, but I'd be a bit concerned about running a ball powder with this bullet as you're close to the red line with any 80 in 5.56. I don't have notes on that bullet anymore, but I believe I was running the Nosler book COL in my loads. I was using HSM brass and a Fed SR match primer. My chamber is .223 Wylde, so it should fit a 5.56 milspec chamber at that COL also.

I run. 80s with tac and varget. Ramshot data might help. The 77 as you know is the heavy for ars so your single loading. Bolt AR a chamber is a chamber and you will have to measure for fit. I don't expect you'll be in the lands.

I know it can't be seat it to mag length. They will be side single round at a time. My dummy rounds are inconclusive. Need to check headspace.

Yeah the 77gr, Sierra match kings are not secant ogive like these 80gr. Bullets. The bullet will probably keep it's slender nose in, and meeting the Leade at the same space as the 77gr.
