Hello all,

A friend called me today looking for info on a head stamp on some .223 cases he found at the range.

DNL is across the top, w/ .223 REM acrossaround the bottom.

Anyone familiar with?

Thanks

"...Typical milsurp stuff..." Milsurp wouldn't have '.223 Rem' stamped on it. Doesn't mean it isn't Denel though. They make hunting ammo too. Marketed under the PMP brand name.

I had some of the DNL cases mixed in with a batch of once fired brass I bought. I had SOO MANY problems with the very small flash hole pulling the decapping pin out of my dies, that my translation for DNL was "Do Not Load". :D

TC66, thanks for the headstamp reference!

Very timely...just picked up a batch of .30-06 boxer-primed brass at the Ft. Benning range marked PS 73, and have been unable to identify it. The brass appears to be of high quality, and I agitated it in water to remove any corrosive primer residue on the inside of the case before tumbling.

According to the headstamp chart the ammo came from either Czechoslovakia, Itally (Fiocchi), Spain, or Korea...my guess is either Italy or Korea...and most likely Korea, as we probably set them up with the tooling and components. :p
