I have a few thousand pieces of .223 brass. It is from various manufacturers. Which headstamps require military crimp removal? I noticed that the primers will not fit in a lot of the Federal brass. However, brass with L C 8 0 spaced at each quarter of the headstamp does not require military crimp removal. Does anyone have a list of the headstamps which require military crimp removal and those that do not? If so, please share. Thanks.

Some manufacturer's make ammo that has both crimped and uncrimped primers. The crimp is evident as the indented circle or stakes in some cases around the primer pocket. If you bought virgin unprimed LC brass, the primer would not be crimped. A thread search will provide more information with photos.

No list.

If it is mil-spec ammo, the primer is crimped in place.

LC cases were used by Federal / ATK to load fake GI surplus ammo for commercial sale.

You should be able to just look at a case and tell if it has a crimp ring around the primer pocket.

Once you find a few, and write down the headstamps, you can make your own list.

I think LC brass is crimped but crimped less than FC stamped brass. FC brass has a heavier crimp and seems to be shorter than most other 223 brass. It's the only brass I found that I did not have to trim.

I treat all my once fired .223 brass the same and touch the primer pocket to a Hornady pocket reamer turning slowly in a drill motor after sizing and trimming. The reamer doesn't do anything to the pockets that don't need reaming.

I TRIM ALL MY 223 range brass and swage the primer pockets while the auto trimmer is working.

this way all my brass is the same
other then military stuff,
it all goes in the 223 mil container.
the rest go into the 223 factory container.

so far my AR eats them all

I have a RCBS Trim Mate Case Prep Center. It has a military crimp remover, but a lot of the case still won't seat a primer. I have a Dillon Super Swage 600 on the way now:D.
