Haven't fired a .223 since selling my mini 14 last year. I bore sighted and sighted in a friend's new model mini 14 yesterday with some Fed. Am. Eagle 55 gr. FMJs. and noticed upon retrieving the brass that they were headstamped LC 04. I knew the LC brass was Federal but in the past it was headstamped FC. Is this something new? Is this a clean-up effort on the LC plant?

My next door neighbor just bought a case of American Eagle from Natchez and they warned him before he ordered it that it would be stamped LC. They said that Federal had consolidated the production lines or something along that line. FWIW.

Dave

FC is Federal Cartridge and LC is Lake City. Sounds like Federal is using Lake City brass.

I prefer LC brass over Federal. Seems the primer pockets are a bit looser on the Federal brass I have. CCI primers kept falling out.
