I've read real good reviews on the Barnes TSX bullets. They say to go down one weight from the weight you would normally use as the bullet expands so much with the four petals that do massive internal damage.
From what I've read, most Barnes TSX bullets go right through the deer.
The .223 should do the job on the smallish deer we have around here. I actually plan on harvesting one this season with my AR after the .308, .45, and 10mm have put one down. If I get one with those guns of course..
