which would b better four deer federal 55 grain barnes tsx or federal60 grain nosler partition i know their a little small four deer but it,s four my 11 year old little girl plus i,ll b backing her up with a 257 weatherby mag
Barnes TSX is a great choice for hunting it is a favorite for many hog hunters on the local hunting forums.
Barnes has a listing for their 62 and 70 grain TSX.
My best bet would be those should have the best effect with a hit to the boiler room.
Sight your rifle in with the loading you choose and have fun hunting!
*For the 70 grain their website recommends using a 1:8 twist or faster*
Also last year I hunted with my good friend and he bagged a mature buck with his Mini-14ranch rifle at right around 100 yards and he died right there. He was using a nosler partition ballistic tip. All in all shot placement is king.
Also these are your smaller bodied "Texas Deer" not your corn fed northern deer.
like many other forums, people ask if marginal calibers will do the job.....I suspect a well placed shot will kill a deer, but when deer hunting, I would use something with at least 100 grain bullet moving over 2800 fps (243 win/6mm rem or bigger). Good luck!
