Could someone that has either unfired or fired PPU brass in 223 measure it at the case head just in front of the extractor groove and post the measurements? I have some once fired that measures 0.377. Is this normal for PPU brass?

SAAMI spec is 0.3759 so my brass is over spec. I picked it up at the range I belong to and the primers were crimped with the sealant still there. So I assume it was only fired once. When I went to size it some of the cases didn’t want to go into the case holder and that’s when I measured. There didn’t seem to be any pressure signs but they are definitely bigger. What would account for this? I loaded and shot 50 with no problem but am worried that maybe I shouldn’t shoot these. What do you think? They fit in my case gage.

I have a bunch of PPU that's always tight in the shellholder. This applies to both crimped and non-crimped .223 brass from Prvi. It doesn't seem to be any worse after multiple firings. If I come across one that's particularly tight, I throw it in the scrap bucket. On the bright side, it doesn't seem that PPU requires as much trimming.

I've never had a malfunction from it in my AR.

Here are some measurements from my current batch that's been fired four or five times. The fourth decimal is estimated:

Win/RP
.3750
.3755
.3745
.3750
.3755

PPU

Thanks for the info. I did some more measuring and it seems to be in line with rhubarb’s data. I guess I’ll shoot it since it measured the same after I fired it. Oh and I used my 9mm shell holder for it.
