Hello folks. I am contemplating in between the .223 and the 5.56 NATO for my DPMS M4. I have been using the .223 by PMC regularly and have been satisfied with its performance and accuracy. It is also cheap, $9 for a box of 20.:D I stumbled upon the Federal 5.56 selling for only $6.50 a box of 20. They're cheaper so I am considering buying it instead. Are the 5.56 NATO any better in performance than the .223 ammo?

Go for it. 5.56 is generally loaded hotter than .223 if that's what you are looking for. Where did you find it for that price if I may ask?

is your rifle chambered for the 5.56? as far as i know, .223 can be used in a 5.56 chamber but not the other way around.

I found it at our local Ranch and Home store. My DPMS will accept the .223 and 5.546 NATO.

I've shot at least 1,000 rounds of PMC 5.56 Nato FMJ, and 1,000 rounds of Win. 5.56 Nato FMJ through my Ruger GB Mini 14, 182 series, .stamped ".223 Rem.," without any trouble whatsoever. Accurate, too.

Don't know about other rifles.
