I have been trying hard to work up loads using 30gr to 40gr bullets in my K, but have not been able to get the groups I shot as a regular Hornet. Tried LiL'Gun, H110, rifle and pistol primers, James Calhoon 30gr and Sierra 40gr Blitz Kings. Any help?

First off, welcome to another member from around Montgomery County! At least, I hope you are from Montgomery County otherwise I shall feel rather foolish. :)

Now...the special K is a nice little round but can be a bit finicky like the regular hornet from what I have seen.

Are you neck sizing only? or FL sizing after fireforming? Are you crimping? Crimping can lead you either way...can open up your groups or sometimes give you one ragged hole. I have tried H110 and Lil'gun in my rifle and they were okay...but my hornet REALLY made me smile when I started using 1680. You can also try 2400 and 4227. I have even seen loads of AA2015 BR but you can't get enough in the case to reach max pressure. Lastly, what brand primers are you using? Winchester, CCI, Federal?

I'm not sure why, but my Hornet (T/C Contender w/10" barrel) seems to like faster powders for the lighter bullet weights. Accurate #9, VihtaVuori N110, and Alliant 2400 all work for me with 30-40 gr bullets. And small pistol primers seem to set them off just fine. Might be different in the K Hornet though...

I neck size, I have runout of less than .001. I have tried FED 205M and WIN SP primers. I have not tried crimping yet. Might have to try 1680.
