.22lr conversion of Glock

Hi all, My first post on THR. Just wondering if anyone has tried .22lr conversions for Glocks?
 
Yes, I have a Criener (sp) for my Glock 19. It is fun and cheap to shoot. At the moment I am having an issue with mine as it does not want to attach to my G19 properly. Never had a problem before so I'm not sure what the problem is.

At one time I had a 1911 with a .22 conversion and that was great. Don't know the brand, Colt I think. Like a fool I sold it and the .45. Regretted it ever since.
 
I also have the Advantage Arms conversion. It works well. I just use cheap federal bulk pack ammo from Walmart and just manually cycle the round when it fails.

I love the cheap ammo!!
 
+1 on the Advantage Arms. Use it on a G34. Many thousands of rounds down range, no problems. Ammo sesitive as others have stated. Needs cleaning every 300-500 rounds.

Would buy again.
 
Another endorsement for the Advantage Arms unit here; mine has been excellent. The comments about ammo and cleaning posted above are spot on.

I had an advantage arms kit for my glock 17. I sold it because it was just too picky with ammo. Seriously the only cheap bulk ammo that will work is rem. golden bullet, I tried them all. I bought a dedicated .22 handgun instead. I like to be able to shoot it sometimes and not have to clean it. With the conversion kit it dirtied up my frame. I guess it's lazy but that's my reasoning. Supposedly there is a .22 pistol modeled after the glock out there.
 
I had the AA, and it was picky, and one mag worked better than the other.

What I have decided is, ALL .22 conversions are picky until you have cranked about 500 rounds through them, and they like to run a little bit wet. Use hot ammo. The guy I sold my Glock package to says it runs great now.
 
For those that have the Ceiner kit... has that been picky about ammo as well? What ammo works best? I've been considering getting one for my G23 one of these days.
 
I've got an AA kit for a G19. If I remember right, the manual says that all Federal ammo should be avoided (and recommends Rem Golden Bullets!), but I've shot Fed bulk 745 and they mostly work. I actually don't mind an occasional feeding or ejection problem since it allows me to practice clearing the gun. Before I got the AA kit, whenever I had a jam, I would just stare at the gun in disbelief for a few seconds. Now I clear it and go.
 
I have .22 conversions for a bunch of my pistols. The conversion for the Glock (I have a Ciener) and the Sig (made by Sig) are ammo sensitive. Sig recommended CCI Mini-Mags in their conversion, and I found that the Mini-Mags also provide the best results in the Ciener conversion for my Glock 19.

My Colt conversion for the M1911 and the Beretta factory conversion unit for my 92F are not ammo sensitive at all. Go figure.

The ciener kits are just a picky. I only use CCI mini mags or Remington Golden Bullets in mine.
 
I also have the glock advantage arms kit. With a suppressor on it runs anything. For those who have picky ones you might try a lighter spring.
 
I have both a Ciener and an AA. They're both picky about ammo, but anything that goes faster than 1200 FPS will make them work well. A word about Ciener? Before you buy one, call their direct line number and listen to the recording. Unless they've changed it, you won't send a red cent their way.

I called to check on the availability of a G17 conversion to compliment my G19/G23 unit of theirs. The recorded message said--"If you have questions, check our FAQ page on the website. If it's not answered there, send a check or money order for $5 to ______ and we wills schedule a time to answer your question..." No kidding.

It became my mission in life not only to steer people to AA, but to tell that story every time the name came up. It was the best sales tool AA has ever had. And to Mr. Ciener--If you'd like me to look at your products again, send a check or money order for $10 to.....<g>
