Might seem like it, but it is getting cranked out as fast as they can make it. Just too many back orders getting filled.

Yep, I have 4K Winchester back ordered.

I got lucky and scored some Blazer when it came in stock three or four months ago, and they would still let you buy 5K, so I am OK for awhile, but after giving 2K to the kids, the 3K it left won't last much longer. :)

Reminds me of the time the ups man drove up and gave me a package from midway, I was confused because i hadn't ordered anything from them in several months. When I opened it I found 2 boxes of 45acp 200gr gold dots that had been ordered 14 months earlier, obviously I had totally forgot about it.

It's OK, only half of them Remington cartridges would have fired anyway. :)

Funny you should say that. About a week ago I was shooting thunderbolts in my 10/22, and they were dirty as ever but shot fine. Then I grabbed the BX25 I kept loaded with Winchester CPHP's, and had two misfires in the first 10 rounds. They got shot twice more each and never went bang. I proceeded to shoot another 50 of the thunderbolts and no problems. As always YMMV.

More on topic, I got a few hundred Federal game shok CP solids in the mail on Wednesday, and have generally been seeing an improvement in .22 stock/price across multiple websites. Said game shoks were $8.99/100, compared to the $9/50 round boxes on thunderbolts I have seen :fire:

I don't know if anyone else has come across this yet, but a small outfit is offering a kit that allows people to assemble their own .22 rimfire ammo using spent cases.

It's an interesting concept and if it works it might be a way to reduce demand a little.
That's astounding from a 'I didn't think it could be done' perspective. But you have to have a lot of spare time to make it seem worth it. Sort of a post apocalyptic, fell in to the 10th century lifestyle or stuck on a desert island with coconuts, lead and strike anywhere match kind of thing.
I do applaud them for putting the kit together and doing some decent videos and a written guide. Kind of cool. But I don't think it will enable enough interested people and enough volume to take the pressure off of the supply/demand curve we are still seeing.
FWIW, I just purchased two bricks of Aguila high speed .22LR and had it shipped. Not bad pricing in the context of a post-.22-meltdown thing. But shipping is of course significant unless you buy a lot. Which I didn't (I want to check that this stuff works in my specific guns first).

Edit: Let me amend that last comment. I bought it from a site that was offering free shipping.

It is amazing that 9mm and 5.56/.223 and the rest are back in stock in mass.....but not .22lr and .22mag. Never thought I'd say it's easier to find 10mm than .22lr.....but it sure is nowadays.

That's surprising since rgb's have been the most available of the bulk. Gander Mountain has been selling those buckets fairly regularly.

22LR is getting back on the shelves. Even online, it only comes out to be 0.10 per round with shipping. $5 a box of 50 is more than reasonable.

Probably more like:
We're very sorry, but because we can sell it at a higher price due to demand, the backordered products listed below have been cancelled:
(remington bucket of ammo)

I think it's funny that they didn't cancel mine, even though I ordered after you. Seems like they would kick the folks out of the back of the line first.

On another forum there are several instances of folks whose orders were cancelled, then the SAME AMMO came up as available within a week.

Midway ain't what it used to be....

I got the same message today regarding a brick of .22 Mag that I ordered a year ago, their web page says that the manufacturer hasn't delivered and they have no projected delivery date. I guess that the .22 shortage isn't quiet over yet even though I am seeing more ammo on the shelves around here.

same here....had 5-50 rd boxes of cci .22 mag ammo on order since 9/13. thought it might go thru since such a small order but no such luck! managed to pick up 3x that amount over the same time period but not at the $10.99 price per 50 rds midway was offering!!

I got most of an order placed about a year ago, but one 325-round can of Federal Champion never came in. I'm guessing it has been, or is about to be, canceled as well.

It's OK, only half of them Remington cartridges would have fired anyway.

(Always the pessimist, I am)

I don't know. My experience you're being optimistic if you're talking firing right anyway. When one round hits the ground 10 feet in front of you and the next one is hitting 1900fps I don't think either round is doing too well.

Luckily I still have plenty from the order I placed 4 days before Sandy Hook. Plus I pick up .22 ammo here and there these days. It's around more and more. Some day the price might even be reasonable again. I bought half a brick of CCI SV a couple of weeks ago. I could have bought a whole brick but I was buying other .22 at the time with it.

I've had no problem picking up thousands of rounds of .22 the last month or so, some as low as 6 cents a round.
Try PSA, Walmart, and Academy Sports.

I still have over 3000 rd. order on backorder since Dec. 2013. (Winchester)

Happened to me too. After that I setup Outlook reminders to help me remember to keep an order alive.

My last back order was for plastic followers for KP90 magazines. The lesson I learned as a loong term Midway customer: if it's B/O capable ... don't.

I have purchased 1000 Remys from Cabelas the past week at the 25.99 price w/free shipping. My M&P 22 eats them just fine.

WOW !

They are forecasting no availability of 22 ammunition for all of 2015 and in 2016 HRH Hillary assumes the throne. Very bleak picture indeed.

No she doesn't.

But I'm not sure you want to start a political debate on THR

.22 Ammo Prices

I was not impressed by Bass Pro's ad for Winchester Small Game Ammo (.22LR) 100 rds. @ $8.49 (limit 2). That's 8 1/2 cents per pop !

I think I'll wait until it's about 5 cents per rd.:neener:
