I shot 22lr Pistol Competitions when I was in college. It was through my ROTC unit but we weren't necessarily competing against other schools...it generally seemed to be an open competition.

I'd like to get back into it but I'm not sure how to find out about and/or locate competitions to enter into. I wouldn't mind traveling 4-6 hours to compete.

Does anyone know of a website that lists area competitions?

Go to the NRA website NRA and go to the competitions section.

A lot of cities and areas (like Cleveland/Cuyahoga County) have bullseye leagues. The Cuyahoga County Pistol League has been active here for over fifty years.

JLG,
You may be interested in postal matches. The nice thing is that you can shoot your own matches and then email your results in and compete against people all over the world.
Several websites offer postal matches. Many are free and you compete for fun, while others cost money and offer prizes for winners. One of many sites is: rimfirecentral.com the entire site is devoted to rimfire shooting.
Do you have a local pistol shooting club around you? I currently live on an island in Alaska so the postal matches work out great for me.

I've thought about doing some postal matches just to have a little more of a "reason" to shoot. I miss the traveling and meeting new competitors part though. The only competitions I've been able to find are the collegiate ones (which is what I used to shoot in) but I am no longer a college student so I'm not eligible for those.

I'd like to do some centerfire pistol competitions too, but the 22lr doesn't take near the bite out of my wallet.

You can do Steel Challenge with 22s. I'm planning to start competing soon, so I couldn't tell you all the details, but somebody on the board probably knows more...

Lots of local gun clubs with pistol ranges have a league that shoots the .22 LR portion of the Bullseye pistol match. Check your local gun clubs. Ours run 2 seasons a year from Sept to November and Feb to May for 10 matches each season. Shooters grouped into classifications. My company has a pistol club and we do the same thing with teams set up on a handicapped basis similar to a bowling league.
