I'm not into (or good enough) for competive shooting, but I'm looking for a good target to practice on with a .22LR. I want a target that I can keep score so I can measure my improvement. Also, I want to be able to compare scores with my friends. Wait, maybe that is competive shooting, but in a REALLY low skill class.

I found this target which appears to be the UK .22LR competition target (link attached). My only problem with this one is the spacing of the bullseyes. The size of bullseyes are ok, but it's hard to see after awhile. My eyes go batty. Any help would be appreciated.

I think the target looks fine for plinking.

You can use it for the beginners at 50 yards. When their skill improve, you can try reduce it by 1/2.

I assume you mean the 31 bull BR target at the bottom of that site.

If all the little targets run together on you, cut up the page and put each one in the middle of a blank piece of paper.

Yes, I'm referring to the 31 bull at the bottom. I apologize, but I meant for the link to only bring up that one target.

pbhome71, are you serious about ok for plinking? It looks to be the official UK and International Association of Rimfire Benchrest Shooting for .22 50 meter target. I assume that really doesn't mean anything? I thought that would a good target even for experts. Remember, I'm a newby.

I guess my question is.. What targets are commonly used for competitve .22 shooting in the US? And, where can I get them?

Thanks for all the input so far.

Check out www.nationaltarget.com/

For Bullseye pistol:
50feet: B2(slow) & B3(timed & rapid)
25yards: B16(slow) & B8(timed & rapid)
50yards: B6(slow)

If your "bench-resting" with a 4x scope...then sure the USBR 50 will make a fine challenging target.

The BR targets are fine and challenging for shooting from benchrest. There are several guys here who do a lot of that on the slightly different USBR target shown at www.rimfirecentral.com.

If you want to learn to shoot on your hind legs (and belly, and butt) then you could try CMP Rimfire Sporter which is fired on a good size bullseye target from prone and sitting at 50 yards, standing at 25.

This is the country competetion way...

I take a 1/2" or 3/4" pcv pipe and stick it into the ground. Then from 50 yards I take off about a 1-2" section each time i hit it. It's fun to watch it get shorter and shorter, you can see your results, and it forces you to have small 1/2" groups.

PM Me with your email address...I have a .zip file with a wide variety of targets that you can print out on laser (or other) printer...There's 2 or 3 that I use alot for .22s at 50 yards(or 25 or 100, but mostly 50).

Thanks a lot for the links to get the USBR targets. They are exactly what I was looking for.

I'll probably try the country method too when the situation presents itself.

dfaugh, I look forward to getting your targets as well. Thanks!
