.22LR vs .22 WMR?

TentWing hit upon my sole reason for having a .22mag.
In Georgia, on WMA’s we’re not allowed to use or posses a center fire during small game hunts.
The solution to this is the .22mag. It will easily dispatch a pig with proper shot placement.
My .22mag rifle is a Marlin 783 Stainless with synthetic stock. It wears a 3-9x scope and with select ammo, MOA. The Winchester, Remington (CCI loaded with Speer 40gr JSP) and even PMC-Armscor JACKETED ammo is at or near MOA. The CCI plated is 2-3moa.

For pig hunting I prefer the Winchester FMJ, but in its absence, I’ve used CCI solids.

A lot of fun out of a handgun. Big fireballs, big noise, low recoil.
No more expensive as 9mm, I'm fine with that.
As mentioned, not as accurate as good target grade .22lr but for me plenty accurate when putting holes in paper.
Yea, .22lr is cheaper, easier to find and has way more choices.
In .22mag I have a KT PMR-30 pistol, CMR-30 carbine, Henry pump rifle and RIA XTM-22 (1911). They're all fun and great shooters.

While advances in cartridge preparation may have made the.22 mag more accurate that ship sailed for me sometime ago. While throughly enjoying the cartridge and the several nice rifles we had avaliable for it it just didn't make up for the less than precision accuracy I wanted, and it was fairly spendy. I opted out, and found the .22 hornet to exactly fill and exceed the role that the .22 mag quite live up to . That's just me, I still like the magnum but crafting reloadable fodder, cheaply made more sense to me.
