Anyone made their own? I don't mean reload 22LR, but create a wadcutter out of a factory 22LR cartridge. Why you might ask? Cleaner holes on paper for one thing. Also might be more effective out of a Mini revolver if it adheres to the same principle as 38 spl wadcutters from a snub.

Yeah, but it was a lot of work per round for minimal payoff. Accuracy was not great, but they hit hard. Made mine from fired 22LR cases, rim and base reformed into a blunt dome.

Say what now?

How did you make heeled .22 domed bullets out of fired cases?

And how did you load then into unfired .22 RF cases with the pulled bullet case crimps still intact?

Why make it if you can buy it?
CCI makes the SGB and Eley makes it as well in more than one config. I shoot with Eley team while hunting with my .22 rifle. Excellent accuracy, with more energy transfer than round nose bullets. But with less meat damage than hollow points.

Yeah, I saw that too. I just can't imagine TAPPING the bullet with a brass rod using a hammer with any cartridge, much less a rimfire. Now there is some guy out there that makes a die for reloading presses, that seem a lot safer but the guy wants $175 or something like that for the die!

For general critter killin and SD from a handgun you'd be very hard pressed to outperform the Agulia 60 g SSS load

It's a 22 short loaded to long rifle length with the extra material being all bullet. These are highly unstable and tend to tumble when shot into flesh upon impact. They tend to be pretty inaccurate in most (not all) 22's but at mini revolver ranges you won't be missing because of that.

I've shot lots of animals with these from a revolver and it just literally turns em off

I picked up one of these back in the early 90's.

Pretty easy to use, slip the round in the die, hold your finger on the base and slide the exposed tip of the round across a file until it "skates".

Seems to work pretty well on small critters, but I havent used them much since I got my .17.
