Placed an order for some .313 bullets. Saw these and figured, why not.....send me 25. Anyone ever loaded any of these up?

Is there any gun that will stabilize a bullet that long? Maybe a top end 357 load, and in the faster of the available rifling twists if they tend to vary in 357.

Welp, you've got my attention.

Know if they'll fit in a N frame in 357Mag brass? 38 special brass?
Where are you looking for load data?

I've been thinking about a 357MAX contender rifle and these might be perfect for that!

I think you have to load in .38 spec cases. If you google penn bullets .38 thunderhead theres some loading data from them. I have AA9 on hand....so I'll probably go with that. Might call Alliant too to see if they have any recommendations. Apparently the 230 Thunderhead was popular in bowling pin shoots.

I have seroius doubt that those will fit an N-Framed Smith & Wesson.

For very long heavy bullets you have to go with a K-Frame, or preferably an L-Frame. Cylinders of N-Frame .357s are too short.

I'm thinking stabilization will be a problem with normal rifling twist.

It probably wouldn't matter if a long 230 hit a bowling pin sideways at 8 yards though.
Might even work even better!!

Bet if loaded on something like a Ruger SP-101 you could get them to just be stable enough to be accurate yet tumble on impact.

Serious bellygun ammo.

What does the mfg recommend as for loads? Curios how fast these could get pushed from say a 4" GP100...Inquiring minds want to know...

Aren't these meant for bowling pin shooting?

I never really understood that.

I'm pretty sure the local bowling alley would not take kindly to taking a box of these and a GP100 on one of the lanes and going to town!!

:D

Bob Wright, I never realized the N frame had a shorter cylinder.
I have some M19's but have no real intrest in shooting these boolits in those guns.
