well I think I am going to pick a .243 ruger predator
here is question I have an extra nikon p223 scope and
mount its a fixed 3x32 would this be sufficient for this
rifle ?

You wont get the full potential of your new rifle with that scope. Like said above, bepends on what you hunting. Not a good scope for small groups.

That scope will get you started, but you might want a bigger objective and more magnification from a new scope.

A few years ago, (1875) a kid by the name of Billy Dixon shot an indian off his horse at a measured 1538 yards with iron sights. I'm sure the 3 power will work, but if you are a serious predator hunter, a 3x9 Leupold will work better in low light like you will find when hunting....

I use use 2-7X, 3-9X and 1-4X scopes. Never shot a head of game yet on anything but the lowest magnification. I figure each X is good for at least 100-150 yards for big game. You'll need more magnification for varmints, but 3X should be useable on big game out to at least 300 yards.

It wouldn't be something I'd go out and buy for that rifle. But you already have it, use it. If you decide you want more you can upgrade later. After using it for a while you may decide it is all you need.

The .243 gives you a wide choice of game, 3-9x40 would help you make the most of it. It's a very common configuration, lots to choose from.

I think Id get a vx2 2-7 and leave it on 7X. My dad shot a lot of coyotes with 6X.
