I know I've read about and heard about people shooting 105 grain bullets from their 243 Winchester rifles, but I haven't been able to find a load for it. I have some 6mm 105gr Speer soft points, which seem awfully long, but I was wondering if anyone's worked a load for this. It'd be especially neat if someone's worked a load using IMR 4064 which is the only powder I have around right now. :D

The Speer Manual #13 shows 30.0 grains as a starting load and a maximum load as 34.0 grains of IMR 4064 behind Speer's 105-grain spitzer. I hope that helps. I haven't tried it myself.

I've used the 105's. Not with 4064 though. Haven't a clue what powder I used. Have it written down around here some place. IMR4350, I think.
"...seem awfully long..." Seat 'em according to your manual's max OAL. Shot a ground hog with a 105 SP, one time. It literally blew the ribs out.
There's a Berger 115 grain bullet too. Doesn't fit most mags though.
Plus Hornady makes a 105 A-Max bullet. And Sierra makes a 107 grain Matchking. Speer doesn't have on-line data. They want you to buy their manual.

105s

I use them and they are good. I use nobel #1 36 grains federal lr primers, I shoot roe deer with them through my ruger which has a 1:9 twist rate.

Give them a go they are worth using.

Steve
