Shooting a Number 1 Varmint. In researching loads, I was reading about the 115 Nos Part over H4350. Not much data in my Hornady Book and The Nosler Book (#7) doesn't have an H4350 load in it for that bullet. The data I did find, in an older Hodgdon manual , showed data for a 117 gr bullet and gave a max load of 48 grains. Quick load shows loads with as many as 53 point something grains before it gets in the red due to unsafe pressures. This is with the data for my seating depth, case capacity etc. plugged in. How much faith do you guys have in the QL Data? This is the first discrepancy of this magnitude I've run across and I'm curious.

I shoot IMR 4831 in my .25-06. After trying most everything else, it gives me the best accuracy. I mostly go with Nosler's "most accurate" loads or a bit higher.

I tried 4831 as well. My rifle didn't seem to like the loads I tried. Started working up a load with H4350 because I've read that IMR 4350 is really temp sensitive. H4350 isn't supposed to be quite as sensitive to temps, so I have read. Doesn't make it true. At any rate, when I decided to try the H4350, I found little data. So I started working up a load. I got to 49.5 grains with no pressure signs whatsoever. Thought I might be getting close to max so I pulled up quick loads and entered the data. It says I can safely go a good bit hotter. Don't know if I trust it so I'll proceed with considerable caution. Groups were closing up nicely from 48 gr to the 49.5 mark.

I trust quick loads to give me a pretty good guess. Don't go straight to max, and watch for pressure signs, same as any other load data.

That saidI, I'vefound it pretty accurate with standard bullets, cartridges, and common powders.

I've worked up a very accurate load with IMR4350 and Sierra 117 PH's using anywhere from 50 to 51 grains. When I just checked the Hogdgon on-line data, there is a big difference between their 2 4350's max load. I don't know what to tell you as I've always considered those powders to be very similar.

UPDATE: I trusted QL and went slowly. Doing a happy dance! Found a load that gave me a .670 group with 115 Partitions and yet another that shoots in the 7's with the 120 grains. Both are pretty fast. Looking forward to trying them out again when the weather turns a lot ( I hope) cooler this fall. Thanks for the help guys. Now to work on this 5 lb trigger!
