$25 for background check?

I'd love it if my fee was only $25. Here in the PRK the state fee for DROS is $45 and most dealers add on $25 to $75. If it's a handgun, you also have to have the HSC that's another $25 to the state.

CA DROS is $19. Some dealers (Turners comes to mind) tack another $4 or $5 "paperwork fee" on top of that.

You may be thinking of FFL transfer fees, which are solely set and pocketed by the dealer and can be ridiculously high.
