is it possible to load 250 gr .452 hard cast lead for 45 lc in a 45-70 brass? if so how much powder should i use? i have loads for 300 grain jacketed can i use it for the 250?

I would not do that. Size does matter. Just ask the college girls.

I am shooting a non traditional pistol bullet in my 45 auto. Rem Golden Saber 230gr bullets are banded BJHP bullets. More than a third of the lenth that traditional bullets would have rifling contact do not. The band is .451 and the remainder is .44. Standard loads for a 230gr JHP turn this one into a barrel burner and more suitable as a 45 super loading for all the battering this produces for the slide.
A .452 bullet in the 45-70 will not seal the bore and will allow for a lott of leading to occur. Bullets may move and hit the paper but your accuracy will sufer.

I am sure much more experienced reloaders will also chime in lend an opinion. For me I can only say you will be making more work for yourself in cleaning the barrel and a safety issue with inconsistencies that kind of loading will lead to.
