Does anyone have any load test data or know where I can find loads listed for a 250 savage using H414 powder with 75gr Vmax Bullets ?
Thanks my email is [email protected] if you wish to email me.

The current Speer Manual #14 show a oad for a 75 gr Speer bullet with a starting load of 37.0 gr H414 and a maximum load of 41.0 gr. The max load is a compressed load and Speer recommends CCI Magnum primers for H414i. I know nothing about this load and simply quoting data from the Speer manual, so be cautious in working up a load.

H-414 is really too slow burning for that light a bullet in the 250 Savage.

You could get much better performance with IMR-3031, Varget, BL-C(2), H-335, H-380, H-4895, etc.

Hodgdon's data lists 44.0gr as a max load and is the fastest listed load @ 3,460fps. (from Lee #2, pg290).

I would suggest you use the Hornady 75gr v-max, or the Hornady 75gr HP.
I've not loaded these in the .250Savage, but have the .257Roberts. I would These have a higher ballistic coefficient than the Speer or Sierra, also start at 40.0gr and work up. No data is given on what cases, primers, ect is listed.
I used Federal #210's, and Winchester cases. I easily reached the Hodgdon listed max, which are non-+p for the .257Robt.
I have used H414 and the 75gr HP in the .257Roberts. It was a good load, but H380 gave better accuracy with essentially the same velocities.

Accuracy was exceptional and I even killed several deer one night on a deer control permit. I made the longest shot I've ever made on a deer and was a bang-flop at a measured 378yds. Bullet broke the deers back just behind the shoulder and exited with a 1" diameter hole. Just about perfect, give the reduced velocity at the extended range.

But, FWIW the Nosler 85gr Ballistic Tip is a better choice for any reasonable use of the .250 except for larger deer.

Let us know how it works !!!!

H414/WW760 are the same powder, so you might look at loads for WW760. Without looking, it may be on the slow side for 250 Savage case capacity, but is great for 243 and 257.

Thanks for the info on H414 for the 250-3000 So far I have tested 41.4gr of H414 behind a 75gr Vmax these should be about 3200 fps. I used rimington mag primers and rimington cases the bullets were seated 3 thousands off the lands. I shot a 4 shot group at 100 yards which layed down a .610 group measured center to center. My gun is custom made it has a M98 action with a federal made meduim heavy 26 inch barrel with a synthetic stock bedded action and it goes about 2 inches out under the barrel. Has a 1-10 twist. I also shot about the same group size with xbr powder where hodgdon shows a velocity of about 3340 fps using 37.0 gr. using the 75gr Vmax. Either will do fine for coyotes. I will do some more adjusting for fine tuning these loads. I don't try to push things I found out long ago if you love your guns you treat them right..lol
Thanks for the help...Jimbeam4

Thanks for the info. I shot some groups just over 1/2" using 41.4 gr of H414 with 75gr vmax. The velocity should be close to 3200 fps. I use a 26 medium heavy barrel. I also tried 37.0gr of XBR and it shoots about 1/2" group. The velocity for that load is listed about 3340 fps. Either load will get some adjustments to help fine tune them. I use the gun for coyote control here to keep the numbers down. I don't like them getting in my cattle. I have lost calves to them wiley dudes. The ones I have shot with 75gr sierra hp's really blow holes in them. But I dont fool with pelts anyway. Again thanks and take care....... Jimbeam4.

H414 is the best propellent I have ever tested in my two 250-3000 rifles. NOTHING else was even close to the velocities and accuracy the H414 delivered with both 87GR and 100GR bullets.
Thanks Will for the info. So far the loads I tested were 41.4gr of h414 and 37.0 gr of XBR.
Both these loads printed just over 1/2" at 100 yds. I used 75gr Vmax bullets. Rimington cases and Rimington mag primers. I use a custom rifle with 26" medium heavy bbl. 1-10" twist. I will play with these to fine tune them. I use the rifle to control coyotes and other vermin that sometimes get my calves. The ones I have shot using 75gr hp sierra's really blows holes in the yotes. My neighbor and I have killed 9 coyotes here in the last 14 months.

thanks cemetary21 for the info. What I have tested so far is 41.4gr of H414 behind 75gr Vmax. This load printed just over 1/2" group. I also tried 37.0gr of XBR and the 75gr Vmax and they shot just over 1/2" also at 100 yds. I use a custom rifle with a 26" bbl. I use this gun for coyote control on my farm. It works good too. I will do more load work and fine tune for accuracy. Thanks for your help and take care.
