I've got plenty of 250gr bullets for .45 Colt, but I'd like to know if I can use these same bullets in .45 ACP or .45 Super to be shot in my Ruger Redhawk with the moon clips.

No jacketed bullets, just lead or Berry's plated.

Also would like to try these out in a shotgun adapter to see how much the POI shifts when using the heavier bullet.

Load data and velocity would be appreciated as well. Powders I have available are Bullseye, Titegroup, 700x, Blue Dot, True Blue, Accurate #9, and Power Pistol.

I assume if the Blackhawk shoots the 45 colt fine, it would do ok with the ACP.

I shoot 255grainer 45supers out of my auto loader, so the weight shouldn't be an issue.

I regularly load 255 grain bullets in a .45 Auto Rim. I do not load them in .45 ACP as I'm happy with the 230 grain bullets.
I see no reason to avoid such a use, mind you, just I don't have a reason.

Quite possibly they might not pass into the chamber so well, considering the sharp edge. So pistols feed wadcutters with little to no problem, some require some polishing and alteration.
Velocity will probably be lessened, as the heavier bullet usually generates the same pressure levels at lessor velocities. The Auto Rim loads I assemble use a bit slower powder, as there is not recoil mechanism.

I've never worked with the .45 Super, but I imagine it would be a similar possibility and problems.

I wound up with some old Ranier 250 gr TrFP bullets I was loading in .45 Colt and shot a bunch of them in .45 ACP with 5.0 Grs of old metal can W-231. Might be over max these days, perhaps not. People used to routinely shoot 230 Gr over 5.5 Grs W-231.

All of your powders are suitable except for AA # 9 (too slow). Go extra easy with the real fast ones if you try them.

Good to know. I thought I was pushing the envelope with 5.4grs of Win 231 and 230gr 45 Auto @1.235". Chrono'd at 825 out of a 5" Springfield XD Tactical.

I've shot hundreds of 255 grain Keith type bullets in the acp. Generally you need about 1/16" to 1/8" and no more of the driving band showing. I size mine to .452 for the auto.
They penetrate extremely well, cut clean holes in paper and skin, and slap pins off the table like a sledgehammer.

Magnus #807 215 Gr Bowling Pin bullet. I shot lots of these over W-231.
