Considering working a load up for 45 super using hornady 250gr xtp. I have CFE pistol and ramshot enforcer on hand. Prefer to try it with the enforcer. Can't seem to find much for this combination. Any advice appreciated.

welcome to thr, @RSTed. my go-to powder for the 45 super is power pistol, so i don't have any advise regarding your two powders other than keep searching the web for 45 super loads.

that bullet is for the 45 colt, i believe, and may not work too well in an auto pistol. i would make a dummy round and make sure it passes the "plunk" test before working up a load.

luck,

murf

Rather than start a new thread, I’d like to ask folks who reload .45 Super what their favorite powders are. Looking at loading 230 gr round nose and 230 gr XTP’s.

Will be shooting from a modified G21

thanks!

Power Pistol for me, though my loads are on the lower end of some of the Super loads I've seen.
8.4gn under a 230xtp gives me ~1030fps from a G21 with a storm lake barrel, and ~1020 from a 4" 625

Be careful with the heavy bullets and max charges. There is enough room in the 45 case to get yourself in trouble. I have used 800 X and unique in my 45 super.
I used 800X for top end loads with my 45 super as well, many of which were well beyond standard super loadings. The heaviest bullets I used were 240 XTP mags tho.

Getting 950fps with enforcer and the 250gr xtp using starline 45 super brass. No pressure issues so far in my fnx45t with an upgraded spring kit.

The typical go-to powders for the Super are Power Pistol and Longshot. You can easily, and safely get to 1000 fps from that bullet with either of those powders..Longshot is a tad slower burnning than Power Pistol..

note: these are 45 super loads to be shot in a gun suitable for 45 super loads.

for the 230 xtp, i settled on 9.0 grains of power pistol, cci 300 primer, starline 45 super cases, 1.230" col, .003" crimp. 5 shot avg. is 1064 fps @ 12 feet, with an extreme spread of 14. shot out of my glock 30 with 21 lb wolf recoil spring and alpha wolf barrel.

the 230 lrn load is: 8.2 grains of power pistol, cci 300 primer, starline 45 super cases, 1.240" col, .003" crimp. 7 shot avg is 990 fps @ 12 feet, with an extreme spread of 28. shot out of my glock 30 with 21 lb wolf recoil spring and stock barrel.

luck,
