I found some 250grXTP's today for a steal. So I bought them. Yeah I know they are .452, but that's okay. So I broused around the ol' internet for a few hours searching for some load info that I could verify with more than one source.
Didn't find any, but allaint published a 260gr load using 4.5 grs of bullseye max. So I knocked off ten percent and loaded up some test loads starting from 4.0grs to 4.4grs in increments of 0.1 grs.
Anywho, I took my springer GI 5", with a 20lb recoil spring to the range and tried'em out.
4.0: no pressure signs; barrel was cool; cases drop at feet
4.1: no signs; barrel midly warm after 5 rounds; cases went about 3 feet
4.2: no signs; warm barrel; cases went bout 7 feet
4.3: no signs; warmer barrel; cases went bout 7 feet
4.4; no signs; noticable heat; cases went 7 feet
Notes: OAL 1.18", primer CCI300, cases Federal .893" length once fired, Powder Bullseye 4.0-4.4grs.
I dont have a chrony, but will be getting one; will post info.
P.S. the five rounds at 4.4grs were scary accurate: 1" group offhand at 15 yards. It'll go wherever ya put it.
