A while back ago I was here seeking some wisdom on a 45 acp 255gr load, and well... I got it! Just figured I'd share.

255gr cast Lee 452-255 sized to .452
4.5 grs Unique
OAL 1.137

A bit short, but the leade on my SA 1911 is nearly non existent. got about 775fps

nice. i love the feeling of finalizing a load. that is one impressive chunk of lead! what are you going to be using it for? targets? hunting? bowling pins?

bowling pins and showing steel targets whos boss, it looks like they got hit with a howitzer with these vs a 9mm... hehe

big fat bullet like that, i figured bowling pins would be involved. should work pretty good.

i take it (by the bulge) is not a compressed load? looks like enough room, but thought i'd ask.

The bulge is actually a coke-bottle shape that tells us the sizer and expander were adjusted properly. Case mouth tension should be very tight. Are you going to try for a bit more velocity for hunting?

I just started working up some 250gr pin busters from Missouri bullet co. So far 4.5 gr HP38 seated to 1.170 has passed my function checks.

I think im going to push it a bit more, maybe 0.2 more grs of powder. Its not compressed, but there isnt a whole lot room left.
