So I got one the cheap 26.5mm flare gun pistols awhile back but cant bring myself to buy such expensive ammo for it. I then found www.reloadableshells.com and got a few cases and wads.

They take 209 primers and the website says they were designed for black powder. It doesn't have any actual load data though.

I have tried and tried with Trail Boss powder and cant get good results. It is seriously underpowered, and I have lots of unburned powder.

Does anybody have any experience with these or any ideas?

Buy factory ammo would be my advice.

Flare guns are low pressure, generally cheaply made firearms, and there is no pressure tested load data for them I have ever seen.

I did see this though, down near the bottom of the page:

You might try looking up a site called 37mm.com . They shoot 37mm flares with a variety of pyrotechnic loads but I'd be surprised if someone there hasn't messed around some with the 26.5mm too.
