I'm a bit green to the whole reloading idea and it'll probably show. My question though is whether or not there are varmint style bullets a person could reload with that would turn a .270 if properly reloaded into an acceptable varmint rifle. I'd want it to be capable of taking out 'yotes at long range but not completely pulverizing a ground hog at about 100 yards. I'd also prefer if the bullet had good enough expansion that I didn't really need to worry about the bullet flying into the nearby cow pasture. Is there a type of bullet like that I can use in reloading a .270 or am I simply barking up the wrong tree and really need to get a dedicated varmint rifle? I'd prefer being able to take out ground hogs and black bear (at close range) with the same rifle. I'm also open to suggestions to a different rifle that would better suit that given role if that'd be a more reasonable idea.
