I'm a bit green to the whole reloading idea and it'll probably show. My question though is whether or not there are varmint style bullets a person could reload with that would turn a .270 if properly reloaded into an acceptable varmint rifle. I'd want it to be capable of taking out 'yotes at long range but not completely pulverizing a ground hog at about 100 yards. I'd also prefer if the bullet had good enough expansion that I didn't really need to worry about the bullet flying into the nearby cow pasture. Is there a type of bullet like that I can use in reloading a .270 or am I simply barking up the wrong tree and really need to get a dedicated varmint rifle? I'd prefer being able to take out ground hogs and black bear (at close range) with the same rifle. I'm also open to suggestions to a different rifle that would better suit that given role if that'd be a more reasonable idea.

I'd second the 110 V-Max.
But unfortunately, there is no bullet made, in any caliber, that does all of the things you want it to do.

If it kills coyotes really well at long range, and won't ever ricochet, it's gonna be pretty darn ruff on 100 yard pasture poodles!

I loaded up some 130gr Nosler Ballistic Tip for my brother's Husqvarna .270 Winchester.

He plans on shooting East Texas deer, feral hog and coyotes with it. He is a one rifle hunter. He has been using Winchester CXP1 150gr.

Varmint bullets are setup to fragment. A nice bonded bullet works for medium game animals.

Varmint bullets for .277 caliber.

110gr V-Max
90gr TNT
