I am looking for a good black bear factory load in 0.270 Win. I have read a lot of different opinions on this topic (bear, elk, moose, etc.) centered around the 270 win adequacy in general. No doubt that a .30 cal gives you more margin for error but given the killer deal I got on a Remington 700 BDL .270 with Leupold scope I couldn't pass it up. So, I am seeing if anyone has any suggestions for me. I live in Ohio where there isn't any rifle hunting so my experience has all been with shotguns and my rifle experience is limited.

Anyone out there hunt bear successfully with a .270 win and what round do you/have you used. Thanks!!!

Federal Premium with Nosler Partitions of any weight offered would be fine for black bear. Use bonded or heavily constructed bullets and you're fine. No ballistic tips or hollow points obviously.

Black bears are not all that tuff to kill.Pretty much any good .270 deer round will work just fine on them as well.I would go with either 130 or 150gr bullets. As far as factory loads go Federal and Rem/CL's have always shot well in my guns.
