it all depends on the ogive radius and nose shape of the bullet, not the length or weight
If you look on their forum there's some load data that others have worked up. If you look at this document https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...YSVtq90tctP2_dXTBGFhePnVtc/edit#gid=957706561
on lines 39, 193, and 194, there are loads specifically showing the 120gr SST. All of them come in at or under 2.20" COL.

Those are loads worked up by other people, most likely without pressure testing equipmet. Neither I nor THR.org take responsibility for the results of someone using those loads.

You can load a 120SST to just under mag length no problem. They are not top performers in the WLV due to the amount of case capacity they eat up with their design.

The best range of bullet weights for supersonic is the 80-110 grain fare. You can push the 120 and 130 but not very fast - they will have plenty of energy at closer ranges but lose it rapidly.

Here's the average speeds by weight:

80 - 2850
85 - 2800
90 - 2700
100 - 2600
110 - 2500

yeah, the 110s seem to have a better balance of velocity and ballistic coefficient, the remington bullets are attractive options because theyre so cheap for hand loading

I considered getting a barrel in the past, but I was turned off for two reasions. First the barrel I wanted was not in stock. Second, the only load date I fould find was on the fourm link on your site. I cannot allow myself to trust load data someone posted on a form. If you really want this ideaa to take off, we need barrels, trusted load data, and affordable bullets. People with AR rifles like to shoot them alot and I'm thinking Hornady bulk pack 110 grain FMJ, SP, or HP bullets. Maybe do a group buy on bullets here to get enough quality for a lower cost. This would also pool in 6.8 and 270 win shooters. I'm not trying to give you business advise, just saying what I would like to see, as I really want to give your offerings a try.
Barrel and reloading supplies availability is a big one, although I have to point out that once you have both of the above, due to other AR parts compatibility, you are independent of the original cartridge designer completely. No special bolts, magazines, bullets, cases, etc.

As far as not trusting load data, that is completely up to each person. It's a very understandable viewpoint, and one I agree with when we are talking about a single load data report from a single source. However, for 277WLV, we have several hundred corroborating data points, from at least 41 different source contributors, spanning the last several years, not to mention the careful work done by MDWS himself. This cartridge is not some wild west wildcat; WLV may not be generally accepted like 300BO (yet), but it is fairly well established.

Pressure testing is the big thing I haven't seen, but I can't see that being practical outside of factory ammo-- how many reloaders can afford to properly pressure test their loads for any cartridge?

I like my WLV. It has its limitations, as any cartridge does, but within those it performs very well.

The barrels come in and out in batches, just have to keep an eye out for the specific one you're looking to buy. As for load data, if you look around you will find a lot of different shooters using different barrels, load techniques and in different conditions reporting results on similar loads. This is a wildcat so you aren't going to find any data published by the big powder companies. You will have no problem finding starting loads and working up to your own rifle and personal limits. Bullets are easily available and comparable in price to any other caliber hunting bullets.

This one actually belongs to a good friend of mine. I put it together for him months ago. Still had not been shot until I sighted his scope in this week. I built me one just like it but this barrel wasn't in stock. So it's waiting on that to be completed. However, I spent the rest of my money on more lowers and LPK's. After I get my barrel I'll start loading for them. Doesn't appear to be much to forming the brass. I'll try to post a pic of the target after I got the scope dialed in.
