My wife has been shooting since she was a child. A few years ago she fired her uncle`s Taurus .38 spl. She said it felt better in her hand than anything she had ever fired. So of course we own one now. The fit and feel to her were the important part, the price tag was a bonus.
 
I kind of agree in some respects with the OP. I'm not a gun snob by any streatch but I generally will not own or use a pistol if there is ANY question about its reliability. I own almost exclusively polymer pistols H&K USP, Glock, SA, and S&W M&P. I didnt buy one of them until they had been out for a while and proven. With the more well known companies you will usually have a more established QC process and fewer lemons per capita than a less known or less reputable company. But thats not to say lesser companies dont sell quality firearms you just may be more apt to find a lemon.
