3-gun guys: what gear is the bare minimum?

In that match only two "optics" guys beat me in the overall. There's nothing wrong with shooting irons in 3Gun and you're really only scored against the iron sight shooters anyway.

I shot my Garand at a local match once

This is just me, But wouldnt a surplus LBV be perfect for this kind of work? a simple vest covered in molle loops, pistol mag carriers on one side, rifle on the other, and then shotgun shells in the extra loops on your non shooting shoulder. pretty sure you can pick one up for about $30, and the mag pouches for a little more.

they have other uses as well, if you hunt, just clip on a buttpack and you have enough room to keep a days supplies. it already looks like a fishermans vest so you got that covered, and if you do any airsoft, or paintball tactical gear is almost required

There's no point and the typical mag carriers, etc, are more fiddly (ie slower) to load from.

eh, it was a thought. I havent seen a 3 gun match in person. not to many held around my home in the states.

Cool. How'd you do?

Do you set your sights for the longer shots, or just hold over?

Well, my logic was that with a 50 or even 100 yard zero I would be fine on the 200 yard targets without adjusting the sights (which is my experience from shooting A2 sights), but I had a major problem on the 200-yard stage and dropped a lot of points there. On the other stages I was alright but reloads were often and relatively slow.
