I finally had a chance to shoot my M64-3 today with some awesome results. I reloaded some 125gr Berry plated projectiles under 4.4gr, 4.6gr and 4.8gr(+P) of Bullseye using +P brass. My groups at 5yds were less than 2". The 4.4gr shot 2" high and 2" to the left; 4.6gr. shot even but 2" left and the 4.8gr(+P) shot dead on. The recoil was a nonfactor with all of them. As a matter of fact, the difference was almost nonevident. Needless to say, I'm smiling ear to ear right about now. It sports a 3" tube and is wrapped with tulipwood grips with finger grooves from Hogue. Just wondering if any of you guys have a recipe for +P+ using Bullseye? Thanks for your time and hope it's warm and dry where you are.:D

In Christ,

Joel C.

Go with the load that shot dead on and you will be happy, +p+ is a misnomer in this gun, Shoot the load that hits to POA and you will be very happy with it. Leave the +P+ for 357 guns...

While each firearm has its preference...

Mine like Standard Pressure 158 gr loadings for POA/POI. LSWC-HP and I often use LSWC . I do not reload Metallic, and being honest, most often use Factory loadings. I have no idea the recipe for the 148gr Wadcutter or 158 gr LSWC are that I still use ( about out) from 20 years ago. [I need to get a buddy of mine to reload some I suppose].

Now ironic as it may be, mine and others like my Mod 64, 3" RB HB do very well with some Win STHP 125 gr +P . These are ~ 20 yrs as well, so the factory may have changed these. Sure do look nice sitting in that cylinder, matches up real handsome with the gun, them hollow points showing...and all. :)

Somewhere I still have some 38spl Federal 110 gr +P a buddy of mine in Treasury Dept gave me. He used these in a Model 66 snubby [issued weapon] and his personal 3" model 64's for house guns and all.

His 64's shot these a bit better, and he was shooting my gun doing this testing. Just goes to show, each gun has its likes and dislikes.

Being a nice guy I was shooting his issue shotgun and testing loads with it. Does not matter how much you want a issued shotgun, danged old regulations and all...

Mine also do well with S&W 158 gr loads , standard pressure, just a bit more zippy than today's loading.

Fiocchi : 38E ,38 Special 148 gr, Jacketed Hollowpoint 820 fps 225 me Mine really really like, used a lot for a carry load.

I have always liked Standard Pressure loadings. All my CCW in 45ACP, 9mm, and 38spl are loaded with SP loads.
I have always believed in the Semi Wad Cutter as well.
Colt DS and Model 36 are loaded with Standard Pressure , 158 gr, LSWC.
